Cooking With Kids came about as Summer of 2020 was winding down and children were returning to school in varied states of online, in person, and hybrid formats due to the Covid-19 virus. Wanting to give families encouragement during this demanding time, I created an option to send one to three children to my home for a two-hour cooking session. They would learn how to make a recipe and then take it home to their family.
My fees are a set price for each recipe chosen, plus whatever each family wants to pay me for my time.
First recipes tried out with the kids include
- a lasagna dinner ($25)
- cheesecake and chocolate chip cheesecake ($12)
- pumpkin muffins ($6)
- Muddy Buddies ($5)
Other options are
- broccoli cheese soup ($12)
- chocolate crunch brownies ($10)
- pasta zoodle bake ($12)
- any take on caprese salad, bites, or pinwheels ($8)
- charcuterie board ($10-$20, depending on content)
- smothered burritos and cowboy caviar meal ($25)
Almost anything in this site can be chosen, so just let me know what interests your kids and we can work up a price.
The format is to drop off your kids for approximately two hours. You have the option to stay and watch, or stay and work on your own thing in a nearby room, or leave to tackle some errands. I’ll keep in touch with you as we are finishing to refine the pick-up time.
Please send take-home containers with your kids. Larger plasticware with a lid usually does it for each item. Sometimes something specific is needed, like a platter larger than 9″ diameter for cheesecake, or your own springform pan.
